In 2012 Schmitt & Ongaro Marine celebrated its 50th anniversary, and one year later, the company recognizes another milestone. It’s now the fifth anniversary of Schmitt’s acquisition of Ongaro Marine, a move which helped create more than 50% sales growth since 2010, to now record levels
Schmitt debuted its first stainless steel steering wheel at the 1962 New York City Boat Show. The company has since positioned itself as a leading marine accessories manufacturer. Acquiring Ongaro Marine in 2008 further broadened its product line, which is designed, developed and tested in the US. Ongaro Marine was founded in 1996 and known for its stainless steel electric horns, windshield wipers, and control arms.
