Waterproof Wiper Motor Keeps Boats Weather-Ready

When the weather is less than ideal, having a reliable wiper motor can make all the difference. The new standard waterproof wiper motor from Schmitt & Ongaro is designed for reliable wiper operation at all times and in all conditions.

Ideal for smaller boats, this durable single-speed motor combines the security of waterproof protection with excellent value. Like all Schmitt & Ongaro products, it’s been engineered to provide trouble-free service.

The Schmitt & Ongaro waterproof wiper motor features a 6.4 cm stainless steel shaft. Its aluminum housing ensures efficient heat dissipation and enhanced protection. CE-approved insulated grounding makes it suitable for use with steel, aluminum, wooden or GRP boats.

Exerting 5 N·m of torque, the 12V motor features an adjustable sweep angle of 80º to 110º ** and a self-parking gear to left or right. The unit accepts up to a 14 x 14 inch arm and blade. The wiper motor comes with a three-year warranty.

IMPROVED HORNS STAY LOUD AND CLEAR EVEN WHEN WET

A loud, clear marine horn is an essential form of communication onboard. But rain, condensation, salt spray and other water sources can promote rust and mute its volume over time. To combat this problem, Schmitt & Ongaro has re-engineered its classic trumpet horn, creating a watertight instrument that shrugs off moisture.

One of the loudest on the market, with a rating of up to 125 db at 3′, this trumpet horn has always been a customer favorite. Now a small, unobtrusive draining feature makes it even better.

Accumulated water, whether from boat cleaning or wet conditions, drains through the hole. No matter how often the horn gets wet, it retains its original volume. The drain hole even allows the horn to be mounted at an upward- or downward-tilting angle without incurring water damage.

Constructed of 304 stainless steel, including the sealed sound unit, this horn is sleek and shiny. Both single and dual trumpet horn models are available in either 12 or 24 volt versions.

Schmitt & Ongaro offers a five-year warranty against rust on all its fully stainless steel horns. All meet ABYC A-23 for boats up to 39′ (single trumpet) and 65′ (dual trumpet). All horns come pre-wired and fit existing hole patterns. Retail prices for the stainless steel trumpet horns start at $120.

SCHMITT CONTINUES GROWTH FIVE YEARS AFTER ONGARO ACQUISITION

In 2012 Schmitt & Ongaro Marine celebrated its 50th anniversary, and one year later, the company recognizes another milestone. It’s now the fifth anniversary of Schmitt’s acquisition of Ongaro Marine, a move which helped create more than 50% sales growth since 2010, to now record levels

Schmitt debuted its first stainless steel steering wheel at the 1962 New York City Boat Show. The company has since positioned itself as a leading marine accessories manufacturer. Acquiring Ongaro Marine in 2008 further broadened its product line, which is designed, developed and tested in the US. Ongaro Marine was founded in 1996 and known for its stainless steel electric horns, windshield wipers, and control arms.

Current sales levels are up 30% over last year to record levels, an achievement made all the more remarkable by following a 22% increase the year before.
