SCHMITT & ONGARO MARINE PRODUCTS RENAMES, REBRANDS

To better clarify its company image, Schmitt & Ongaro Marine Products has renamed and rebranded to Schmitt Marine, with product line brands Schmitt Steering Wheels and Ongaro Marine housed within the top-tier umbrella. Tim Schmitt, president, made the announcement.

“Since Schmitt acquired Ongaro Marine in 2008, there’s been confusion in the marketplace as to the relationship between our products and our legacy company names,” said Schmitt. “The rebranding simplifies our image and better defines our product lines. It also provides a wider avenue from which we can evolve and grow our offerings in exciting, new directions.” Schmitt Steering Wheels will house the company’s stainless steel and polyurethane marine wheels. The Ongaro Marine brand will contain the wiper systems and horns.

Parallel to the company renaming is the introduction of a new series of logos. Fresh and clean, the main Schmitt Marine subtly incorporates the “S” and “O” from original company names. The secondary brands provide a distinct relational connection to the primary mark. Subsequent phases of the rebranding process will include a website redesign, updated literature, and other marketing and sales collateral.

What hasn’t changed is Schmitt Marine’s commitment to delivering on its brand promise of quality, innovation and value. The company manufactures a wide range of products for numerous OEMs worldwide, many of which are completely custom-styled and branded, as well as stock items for retail.

NEW – TORCELLO ELITE – Luxurious Leather Wrapped Marine Steering Wheel

Few things on a boat have the power to convey a sense of luxury as much as the steering wheel. The new Torcello Elite from Schmitt & Ongaro Marine does just that. Wrapped in hand-stitched marine-grade synthetic leather, it delivers a hand feel that matches that of a premium automobile.

Designed to be customized in quantity to match virtually any boat interior, the 14″ polyurethane Torcello Elite can be manufactured in an endless array of leather and stitching color combinations. The three thick aluminum spokes are available in polished or black anodized finishes to enhance the décor and a choice of attractive center caps are offered, including OEM-branded. It’s available with a 3/4″ tapered or optional splined hub.

Schmitt & Ongaro engineers partner with OEMs to design the Torcello Elite that best matches the boat model. Digital renderings provide visual confirmation to assist in the process.

Thoroughly tested, the Torcello Elite from Schmitt & Ongaro meets ABYC and NMMA standards; CE approval is pending. MSRP starts at $910.

SCHMITT & ONGARO POSTS RECORD SALES FIGURES

Outpacing the marine industry’s overall growth trajectory, Schmitt & Ongaro Marine Products, manufacturer of steering wheels, horns, wipers and other high-quality components for recreational and commercial vessels, posted record sales figures for 2017. The company saw a 9.2% increase over the same period in 2016, with a three-year overall growth total of 37.8%.

Several factors account for this exemplary growth. Schmitt & Ongaro continues to develop and market new, innovative marine steering wheels for aftermarket and OEM. The ability to provide boatbuilders semi-custom products has strengthened its customer base. Additionally, the company made purchasing easier for its European customers by accepting SEPA payments.

BURANO WHEEL BY STELLA TURNS HEADS

The distinctively styled Burano Wheel by Stella is really turning heads. Introduced at the 2015 International Boatbuilders’ Exposition & Conference (IBEX), the bold new offering from Schmitt & Ongaro Marine instantly enhances a boat’s décor.

Ideally suited for cruisers, runabouts, ski and wakeboard boats, and upscale pontoons, the 14″ (360mm) polyurethane Burano features a durable and low-maintenance stainless steel frame construction, available with a tapered or spline hub. The grip has the look and feel of fine, hand-stitched leather. Unique polished, tubular spokes, burl wood-like accents and a contemporary center cap add to its unique, modern styling.

Designed for both refit and OEM, boatbuilders can customize the Burano to match their vessel’s styling. Rim trim and spoke accent pieces, and the center cap can be chrome, painted or hydrographic coated in a wide range of colors and combinations.

Owners can easily augment their boat’s appearance with a bold, new look by adding a Burano Wheel. Anticipated MSRP is $275.
